August Uglies on hold for awhile!

In the past, I have always bemoaned the August Uglies! It's especially true for hostas and it's the end of the daylilies but I was so surprised to see how many are still blooming. 4 daylilies and plenty of very green hostas (the sun and the slugs have hurt a few)

The bloom count on all the plants has been amazing this year.
The rudbeckia and the phlox are also showing off.(3 types of each)

Cosmos, turtlehead, and hibiscus are putting on a great show as well!

False sunflowers are very tall!  I love the guara blowing in the breeze.

While I normally cut down the hosta flowers, I have  found some very pretty ones and the bees agree!

Joe Pye weed is also looking better than usual in spite of the fact that I pulled more than 1/2 of it last summer. It’s a great pollinator!

The “August Uglies” have been delayed this year!

The weeds on a farm that have managed to survive all the attempts to kill them over the summer. By August you are so wore out from fighting the weeds all summer that you let the weeds that have survived, grow and become unsightly hence the name Uglies.
