Beer in Sweden

Image
It's not that we have consumed a lot of beer, but we've noticed that they are all served in "their" glasses!

Food in Sweden- breakfast

Image
Breakfast is a huge assortment of crackers, fresh bread and rolls. Toppings are jams, Nutella, sliced deli meats and cheeses with really good butter. Boiled eggs,  too soft for me, and runny scrambled eggs are also part of the hotel's breakfast buffets. There also is a variety of veggies too. Both places so far have also had waffle machines and toasters. Great coffee and assortment teas are also available. Good stuff and great way to start the day.

Dinner

Image
We had dinner at El Loco. Not sure why it's called that but maybe because of the guy swinging on the trapeze. It was almost a tapas bar.  Carnitas on flatbread. Fish tacos. Bone marrow   All very tasty.  Three small plates plus one beer... only $500. sk.  Fun place and much to my surprise- not quiet.

Sweden = jetlag

Jet lag!! Nasty stuff at my age. We are in our  mini-suite and hoping for a good night’s sleep.   We negotiated our way through 2 train trips, found our Airbnb, and after a bit of running around, we got the keys, took a nap or two, went for a walk and came back and napped some more and then found a burger place to have dinner.   The funniest thing was trying to exit the Airbnb the first time. It’s a 4 or 5 story building with an elevator and with a lobby. We must have looked extremely crazy trying to open that lobby door in order to get out of the building. It would not open using the handle, we tried the key fob without success,  we looked everywhere for a magical foreign solution. Arie finally got it!! He simply pushed the door instead of pulling it!! It was such a cultural faux pas!  Does your exit door swing in or swing out??

A journey around the backyard… the day before vacation.

Image
  We are going on a 2 week vacation during which it’s going to be VERY hot and during which my son has promised to supply a goodly amount of water all over the backyard.   I thought that a picture journal might help me remember what it looked like now.  I do trust him to water but the extreme heat might be too much.  So here I go… starting with a right turn upon leaving the house. Pots of flowers and hosta. Along the back wall of the house. These day lilies are always early to bloom! This day lily is quite spectacular but I will miss it. On the west side of the house leading to the gate.  These are smaller than they should be. More water needed. On the west side of the house leading to the gate.  These are smaller than they should be. More water needed.   Parsley has been eaten… liquid fence needed. The only thing that would eat these are rabbits! Gift from the kids! Back bed west of the gazebo Some very nice variegated varieties. . East of the ga...

Lantern exhibit at the local zoo!

Image
Our son invited us to the zoo to see the lantern show. There lots of people streaming through and not really looking at the individual pieces. Our tickets were for 9:30 pm. It was just getting dark! Scary python!   Poisonous frogs!  Some of the overhead displays were beautiful! There was a strawberry moon too!
