Family photos

Our daughters Nathania and Sarah live in far away Alaska. Too far away to see each other often! FaceTime is awesome! 45 years ago when our twins were 2 years old we went to Costa Rica for a year of language training.  So much has changed since then. We didn’t have cell phone nor computers. The apartment someone had found for us did not have a phone either!  The   day  after we arrived we got on a city bus,  knowing no Spanish language, to find a place where we could call our relatives to let everyone know that we had arrived safely etc. We were learning something new every day! Since we worked for CRC World Missions, we were fortunate enough to have family pictures taken every time went on home service. Our kids don’t do this …I guess they feel like enough pictures are taken of them that there is no need for formal family pictures. We were so thrilled get this picture of Sarah and Andy and the girls! Beautiful smiles from all of them! Andy, Sarah, June a...

Great Expectations update

Image
Great Expectations is a hosta that can be difficult to grow. I did not know that when I bought it and just plunked it in a hole. It came up albeit slowly that year and the next!  I’m always thrilled to see it survived. April 15 May 10 Still pretty small but pretty! May 21 It has done very well in a few weeks time! It can get to 24” tall and 33” wide. It’s getting there and I will not tempt fate and move it!

Mother’s Day Surprise

Image
My children and grandchildren really surprised me this year. Now I just need to figure out where to put it! Each child and each grandchild painted a letter and son Aaron put it all together and gave it a clear-coat to withstand the elements! So cool! It was a long term project. We were in Alaska for New Year’s and ended up bringing back 6 of the letters in a well wrapped package for my son with strict orders not to open it. I had forgotten all about that until yesterday when Aaron, Julie and Asher gave this to me!
