My day of "REST"
After all the work of the past few days my goal today was to do as little as possible physically. I was tired!
I did some fun things.
1. Rose and I headed out to the OTTAWA neighborhood garden tour. This year was their 25th anniversary and they had 25 gardens on the tour. We decided to go early to beat the crowds and beat them we did. The sprinkle of rain at the start turned into a downpour but fortunately the high temperature kept it semi-comfortable. We didn't do all 25 gardens but the ones we did see had beautiful plants and ideas and enthusiastic garden owners. I appreciated that in the midst of the pristine gardens there were also some that were a work in progress. There is still hope for mine!
Next year I'll take some pictures. In all of the 25 years, this was the first time it rained.
2. We then headed out to Allendale to drop off a bunch of gardening plastic that they will recycle at Countryside Greenhouse. Rose had two very large garbage bags full of containers from the gardens at church. Once we got there, we just 'had' to go inside and shop, right? We gave in to temptation and did purchase a few flats of flowers that had been reduced in price. HAHA! Now I'll have to decide where to plant them.
3. After a nap, we headed downtown to DeVos Hall. We joined friends and saw a wonderful performance of The Most Reluctant Convert. It's a one man show about the life of C.S. Lewis up to the point of his conversion in 1931 told as CS Lewis in his study at Oxford in 1950. I would highly recommend going to see it if you ever get a chance.
4. Dinner time. We walked 8 blocks or so to Bistro Bella Vita. Dinner was delicious and the time around the table was more than enjoyable.
It was a very good day. I did get a few pictures of dinner. I wish I could say we were prudent but alas salads, breads, desserts and bit of wine and spirits were also enjoyed!
