A do-nothing day!
It seemed like I was doing nothing ALL day yesterday. I actually took two naps on the couch and played around with electronic devices for a long time while watching some CHOPPED shows.
When I tallied up what I had done, I actually had accomplished much more than I realized.
I pulled weeds quite extensively during my walks around the yard. I mixed fertilizer and generously watered the pots and flowering plants in the front yard with it. I think it was at least 20 gallons!
I hope the plants are happy. Next time I think I'll sing to them at the same time. That's what they say, right? " plants do better if you talk and sing to them?"
I was out of Super Bloom and happily so because I don't like mixing it. I found another product in my cupboard that supposedly also encourages blooms but this one I could attach to the end of the hose. The backyard got a good feed.
One of my goals for the garden this year is to "formalize" it some. I don't want to add to it but to take what is there and sculpt it and put in spaces. For example: big plants that are too will get dug up and split and plants that are getting too big for their spot will get moved etc. Plants that are more invasive than I want are getting pulled: goose-neck loose strife and oat grass are both going and so is cardinal flower.
So as I go around the yard, I am pulling (digging) those plants.
I also am in the bad habit of making piles everywhere. I know they don't look too nice but dried weed piles are easier to manage than wet ones. I actually picked up piles yesterday too...hooray!
So back to my "do nothing". While I did surprisingly get much more done than I thought, I also realized my fatigue is my own fault. On Thursday, I dug up a field of very tall, very hardy weeds.

The kind of weeds that will not respond to 'round up' and have tap-roots need that. I dug them up and dumped them in my car and brought them to the yard-waste dump. On that very hot day, I was going to only dig for 20 minutes. 45 minutes later all the weeds were out.
I was wiped! 15 minutes of rest and then all was in the car. Another rest and I was off to the dump. Getting them out of the car was the easiest part of the entire project lol.
While I was able to do all of that...my body went on strike!
