Giving blood! DO IT!
Giving blood is not a lot of fun but so important!
Are you hesitant?
I usually do it with a friend.
We usually have an incentive of some kind. This time it was an email offering a $15 gift card if we came on Labor Day.
We always do something afterwards. This time it did not involve a food reward! We decided to go to Meijer Gardens where we both have a membership.
There was an interesting sculpture exhibit. The sculptor used elements that we had never seen before in many different ways. I found this one - FOOD MAN- the most impressive!
We headed outdoors to the newly planted English garden full of perennials that are sure to look awesome next year after they grow to fill the beds. I think I might have an “English” garden since I recognized many plants... in my yard I only have one or two of each while here there were beds almost full. Impressive next year but underwhelming now!
It was very hot and humid so we decided to get tram tickets but none were available until later and we did not want to wait an hour and a half. ( The gentleman in charge of the tickets was less than pleasant! )
We wandered - slowly- past the Japanese gardens to the farm instead hoping to see the fall display which was not set up yet... come back in few weeks we were told. Disappointing!
We did need to return to the exit so found the trail that went along the marsh. The trail was not nearly as pristine as we had remembered and the marsh birds and other wildlife had taken the day off ( it was Labor Day, right?) but we did spot a few smallish turtles sitting out on smallish sticks.
On a positive note, we got some exercise and had a nice walk, talking of sundry things.
We gave blood successfully and enjoyed the day. We’ll do it again! I hope you do too!
