Midwinter zucchini! Too ambitious perhaps!

Image
Frozen grated zucchini was a great idea when there was WAY too much fresh zucchini in my kitchen. Now it just haunts me every time I look in the freezer! On Monday I grabbed 4 bags, determined to do something with them but tossing them out was not an option !lol! The hubby has been on a modified keto diet for a few months, I looked up keto zucchini recipes and made bread with almond flour. The dough did not look very appetizing, but I don’t have to eat it. I hope he likes it because tossing it, even is this form, is not an option!!  I had plenty of zucchini leftover . ..enough to make traditional zucchini bread and 12 muffins. This I will eat! It looks delicious!

Restaurant dilemma !

A romantic dinner for two a few days after Valentine’s Day...of course. We received a gift card for Christmas which allowed us to choose one of two places, so we chose the one that was somewhat less expensive to see if our gift card would cover the entire meal.  We had dined at the pricier place a few times before and expected this one to be nice but not tacky! It was tacky! The booth we squeezed into was the smallest we had ever experienced. We could have and should have asked for a different place to sit but we did not want to be a bother. It was “fine”! The table top was worn and missing paint... but I guess it was clean!  On the bright side, there were nice big cloth napkins...they tried! On that basis we would not recommend this place! The waiter was very polite and helpful but VERY busy! He took our drink order and we waited!  He took our appetizer order and then we waited!! The appetizers was very good...crispy fried calamari! No complaints from the hubby! He LOVES...

Cold bedroom!! How cold is too cold?

Image
Our bedroom is cold! Winter, spring and fall we sleep with bedroom windows open! It’s very refreshing and we sleep well!  This morning I was debating the wisdom of this practice!  How cold is TOO cold? It was difficult to take a clear photo and I had forgotten to take it immediately after I got up. The top number is the outdoor temperature... it went down to 19 degrees! The bottom left number is the indoor temperature which had already gone up 2 degrees!  48 degrees is no fun! I could barely get myself out of the bed!!  It has been colder than 19 degrees outside this winter but this time the wind was blowing directly into the room! Result? 48 degrees! Inside!! Is that too cold? The debate is ongoing. We both slept VERY  well but we did not enjoy getting up to face the cold!!

Cleaning up...again

I spent about 6 days cleaning up one of our apartments.   Definitely not 6 days in a row and definitely not more than 4 hours at a time.  My daughter thinks that I should hire someone to do this but I am still physically able to do this AND when I do it I know exactly what I need to charge the departing tenant.  This time it was not too bad! It was dirty (this was a single guy and his dog) but nothing was damaged.  He did leave a window AC unit for me to dispose of and that will cost him $50.  Nothing is free anymore!  Although the standard lease that everyone signs says it will be left clean - unless there is a cleaning fee stipulation then dirt is not a reason to withhold the return of the deposit. A friend got taken to court for that and the judge was not sympathetic.   This apartment is not modern but has lots of old world charm. The original hardwood floors and very high ceilings are part of that but we did modernize the kitchen. I usually ...
