Saturday adventures
It was a beautiful almost spring-like day. Two friends and I decided it was time to give blood. (Did you know there is no age limit on giving blood? I guess if it's flowing they will take it...)
We met up at 10:30, drove 10 minutes and left the Blood center after 1:30. We learned our lesson...don't give blood on a Saturday and always make an appointment. They were busy...YES...but they also all work like slugs! We even did the questionnaire on our phones to speed things up. When you are done the questionnaire it sends a bar-code to your email. It took 5 or 6 tries for their computer to recognize the bar-code for me. For one of my friends their computer system froze and a tech guy had to come and help. Nothing went very quickly on Saturday.
We persevered- we all gave blood and we were all patient (on the outside lol).
I had been drinking water ...a lot of it- probably 5 or 6 --32 oz bottles...since Friday afternoon. Guess what? It works!!! Usually the phlebotomist has great difficulty finding a good vein but not that day. It was amazing to me. I would definitely do that again and would recommend that others do it too!!
Although no alcoholic beverages are to be consumed for at least 24 hours, my friends and I are naughty. We felt good, drank juice and ate cookies at the blood center so we went out for lunch at a lakeside restaurant- Rose's. A small amount of beer and wine were consumed along with burgers and pizza.
It was all good. Especially sitting at a table overlooking the lake on a beautiful sunny spring-like day!!
