It's the MOST Wonderful time of the Year!!

It's SPRING!!!
Spring in Michigan is always beautiful but generally much too short! It usually goes from cold and wet to hot and humid in a very short time. I often have had my cowslip primroses blooming up over the snow! Not this year!
Daffodils usually last a week. Not this year!
The peonies and meadow sweet are usually ahead of the rest of the denizens of my yard. Not this year!

Spring has been a beautiful gradually unfolding series of all the things I love.
I think the difference has been the rain. We have not experienced those days and sometimes weeks of cold heavy rain.  Instead we have had days of gentle rain followed by unseasonably warm days and then cold temperatures (but not freezing) at night. We still can't chance planting annuals before Memorial Day!

Last week I decided that the deck needed some TLC before I got too busy. So I bought a transparent sealer with a dark tint and applied it after I had cleaned the deck with bleach etc. Well... it looked horrible.
We went to Ontario for a few days and it still looked horrible when we got back yesterday.  So, off I went to the store. I bought a solid stain and sealer and got to work.
Just the surface is done...the edges etc will wait until after the rain.
Much, much better.

Now I can work in the flowerbeds!
Or perhaps I should remove the bright spots from the lawn??

In the meantime, Sarah and Andy are reveling in some very late snowfalls in the Anchorage area. I guess it's better late than never...the last two winters have not been happy ones for the skiers in that area...not enough snow!

Storman turned one!
