What a difference some new curtains make!

Image
I have had some very dull curtains in the back room for a long time.   A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to acquire some beautiful long thick green drapes for a very good price!  I do love a bargain!  The new drapes were much longer and wider than the old   ones, so I bought new hardware (but no bargain there lol!) It took a while but they were finally installed.  I found some paint that I was sure was the original paint, but of course that was not the case. The entire wall was repainted - twice!! ( of course) It was also a great time to clean the floors and more!! I think it was well worth all the effort!

Spring!

Image
Carolina Sweetheart redbud  Spring is beautiful here in West Michigan but very, very short! This year, all my spring flowers are up and blooming and are loving the cool nights. But, with a few very warm days coming up, I'm sure they won't last long. The daffodils have lasted for a few weeks. Such a bright light in the yard. So here's what is blooming. Tulips, red and yellow, blue brunnera, lots of full clumps of yellow marigolds,  purple grape hyacinths, a lonely small red fern bleeding heart,  light blue pulmonary, and columbines of various colors ready to pop! The pansies I planted last year came back and are blooming along side the new ones I bought this year. Around the east side of the house, an old-fashioned white bleeding heart is spectacular!  While all of this sounds good , the weeds are also everywhere!  (no pictures because I want to forget them!) I walked around in the cool, damp morning taking pictures of all the color.  When things dry, I'll p...

Dolls and a wardrobe!

Image
. The youngest grandchild turned six and she requested a doll with some clothes… a mini-wardrobe. So she is getting a OG (our generation) doll from Target. A beautiful doll that is so much more affordable and just as good as an American Girl doll. Both brands are posable and 18”  tall so the clothes on the market fit both.  This is the one she picked out.   Her mom says it’s because it looks just like her- blonde, blue eyes and active. I have purchased some used clothes, some new clothes and have sewn some outfits. It’s been a fun project so far.  Her birthday is in April  but I’m sad that I cannot be there to see her open her presents. The first outfit I made was this pair of pajamas. (Modeled by a doll I have!) Joann's craft and fabric stores are all closing, which means things are on sale.  I bought some butterfly fabric for C and some sunflower fabric for J.  There was enough fabric to make matching dresses for the dolls.  There will be headba...

Hawaii -part 4

Image
All good things must come to an end so we had a celebratory cold one! Good stuff!   Hard to believe that that was a month ago!

Hawaii - part 3

Salt production from deep sea waters… Who knew? Evaporation tubes! Magnesium is also a by product and is a recommended addition to drinking water.

Hawaii part 2

I want to save my Hawaii pictures. We did so much in 5 days! I love to see palms in the sunset! On the way to the lava tubes in Volcano National Park!  This crater was so dry that people could hike across it! Lots of beautiful ferns! Our pool! We almost had it to ourselves most days! Our condo is bottom right.  Just a short walk from the pool! This crater was smoking and we were told it could erupt at any time.  It did , but about a month later! A market in Hilo!
