Visitors from.Alaska

Sarah (who lives in Anchorage, Alaska) had a wedding to go to in New Jersey so she decided to combine that with a visit to Michigan. We were thrilled! Although it would have so much easier to just travel to Newark, she made a very complicated and long trip to include visiting.  It is so fortunate that her 5 and 7 year old girls are fantastic travelers. The trip here was Anchorage- Seattle- Chicago- Grand Rapids.  They spent 2 nights here and then had a direct flight to Newark . They returned after 4 days and were able to spend 4 days with us. The return to Anchorage was no easier- GR- Dallas- Seattle- Anchorage.  Another very long travel day. Grand Rapids has an international airport with beautiful facilities but it it is not the easiest place to get to! We were thankful that she and the girls came for a few days despite that!  The girls call us often on FaceTime but an in person visit is much nicer. Watching early.morning  TV with Opa! Does your dinner menu change in the winter? I tend to prepare meals that remind me of the meals my mother served as I was growing up. Meat and potatoes and gravy and veggies. Good stuff! Leftover pernil, mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy and green beans Sausage , kale, potatoes and gravy Steak, green beans and mushrooms There's a theme here! Thai Quivering tenderloin (google it) with the last of the potatoes and cauliflower!  It didn't quiver lol! Vegetable soup and crackers (I do love the immersion blender) Meals ordered at restaurants seems to be more substantial well. Hearty sandwiches, big burgers and fries! Wednesday Lunch - Cafe Miro Wednesday Lunch at Gippers Wednesday Lunch- MeXo GR Saturday night fare still tends to light and less work!
