11/20/2024 MeXo Restaurant * Lacks charm! Good food that was different.  A bit pricey 11/13/2024 The Post Tavern** This is the restaurant in the newer Ada Hotel (opened August 2024) in Ada.  The place is elegant and subdued! They use porcelain dishes (RAK from uae), heavy cutlery, cloth napkins!  The menu is one page- starters, mains, sides and desserts - a clever idea for a small kitchen! Rose had a wedge salad from the starters section. I picked fish and chips from the mains section! We were pleased!! Mine was too much so half came home. We shared a dessert- Triple Layer Carrot cake! Delicious but we thought the cream cheese frosting needed some more sugar!  We both agreed it was worth a star meaning that we would return in a flash but it was quite a bit pricier than our normal fare! 11/6/24 Olive Garden (in search of a light soup salad lunch) We had fun but no stars. We went for drive in search of fall colors! It’s usually spectacular in Michigan but the peak times are easy to miss and don’t last long. Last year we went out too early and it was very disappointing.  This year we hit it pretty well right on. We drove almost 150 miles straight north and then 50 miles west to Lake Michigan. Lots of amazing color but the pictures just don’t capture it as well as I would like them to! We stopped in Frankfort- a cute tourist town on lake Michigan.  The Storm Cloud  pub serves awesome beer and incredible food!! We also saw lots of road signs alerting us to “hazards" ahead!               These are two we see all the time- there are lots of deer very close to home.    There are also lots of trails in this part of the state so these two were not surprising.   The media with the constant barrage of political ads are making life unpleasant!  I can’t get away from it -newspapers, magazines, online- everything!  I use the mute button a lot! Yesterday a pollster caught me in the yard and asked some questions! did I plan to vote?  Of course! where was I going to vote?  online, in person, mail in?  In person! had I heard of xxxx and xxxx? Yes!  (they are well-funded) what did I think of them?  Much too liberal for me! would I vote for either of them?  No! He checked a few boxes on his papers and walked away!!  not even a “thank you” or “have a nice day”!  I wondered who hired him?? I am sure, that with only 24 days to go, it will only get worse!!  If only half of what we hear/read is true,  I fear for the future of the USA and for the world! Please vote!

  I know that many people love to decorate the inside of their homes with fall foliage (fake stuff) and pumpkins and flowers for beautiful long-lasting  arrangements. I did that this year! Fun, colorful and very low maintenance! I recently received a lovely flower arrangement for my birthday.  The flowers were stuck in florist foam and lasted about 10 days! Love the colors! When they were done I decided to combine my fall flowers from the yard and this florist’s container. I picked cosmos, hardy begonia, geranium, white and autumn joy sedum and chocolate Joe pie weed. It’s the second day and I had to pull a few things but I’m pleased that the sedum and Joe pie are survivors. 

We were looking for lunch and after driving randomly for too long, we finally found a place called PoFolks! Not sure what we would find, we courageously ventured forth. Apparently it’s known for fried chicken and catfish. I thought it would be fun to dive into the southern vibe and ordered the fried chicken, while Arie ordered a blackened fried fish sandwich. His was by far the smarter choice! The chicken was very crispy as promised but had no flavor and it was very dry. The sides were decent - green beans and Mac n cheese- decent but not stellar.  The fish sandwich was flavorful and well-cooked and French fries were so good! I always seem to strike out at a restaurant!  All in all, not the best choice of restaurants and not one we would go to again!
