Dogs and a trip to apple country

Sasha

Aaron has 2 beautiful and very large Alaskan Malamutes named Walter and Sasha.  They love visitors and welcome them exuberantly

Our son lives in apple country on the northwest side of town.  It’s called “the Ridge”  and is perfect for all kinds of fruit growing, especially apples.  I get free apples from A&J because J’s Dad grows apples. She picks and goes to a market to sell and I get some of the leftovers.
The first time I got honey crisps and turned them into a large apple crisp and 2 bags of pie filling.

  On Sunday I got 3 large bags- McIntosh, Gala and Honey Crisp

Can you tell the difference?

I peeled and cored a ton of apples and made applesauce. I decided to keep the varieties separate as a taste experiment.  Each apple produced a very different applesauce.
 Sweetest= Honey Crisp. Smoothest= McIntosh. Thinnest= Gala.

I had 3 large pans of apples on the stove and surprisingly only produced 6 baggies of sauce containing about 2.5 cups each and one quart container.  The rest of the apples will be peeled, mixed and made into applesauce cakes.

I need to get more apples.
