Happy 96th birthday!

We just celebrated the 96th birthday of Tante Tini. She lives in a nursing facility that takes care of her wonderfully! She is bedridden or sits in a special wheelchair, she is hard of hearing, she is always on oxygen, all her friends have passed on... it’s been 6 years.  She seems to be content, she always expresses her gratitude, she does not complain, she loves flowers in her room, she watches the Home’s church service on her tv and Nederland Zingt!

A short while ago she said that she did not want to be here to celebrate this birthday...but what can she do?

On her birthday, 12/15, she was celebrated in the apartment of some friends. I’m not sure how much she participated but she said she enjoyed it!

Our hosts: Hennie and Jim Visser

What will next year bring??

On Friday morning, Arie, John and I attended the weekly hymn sing with her. The hall was full of wheelchairs.  Some of the residents sang in full voice, others slept and others perked up and sang when they recognized an old favorite. Our aunt sang... she can read all the words in the song book! It was good to see. The weekly hymn sing was just recently reinstated after the covid restrictions were lifted.

We had a wonderful dinner at The Keg in Brampton that evening!
