Spring projects
It’s been a busy few weeks and the next two will be as well! It’s still winter!
One house up for the city inspection. While time consuming, things went well and we should get a 6 year certificate. I have decided to partially renovate the kitchen of apartment #3 but as workmen are over booked and product is slow to come by, it will take a few months to get done.
I was sick for an entire week. Two covid home tests proved it was nothing but a nasty cold/flu. I’m still fighting a cough.
Our backyard had been discovered by a rather persistent group of deer, so as an experiment, I put chicken wire all around as a three foot topper to the existing fence, held in place by bamboo sticks. It did the trick! All my plants thrived! Over the winter the fence sagged and was in need of more permanence. Lightweight and tall fiberglass “sticks” are now permanently in place. Not only are the sticks lightweight they are also flexible and will not rust! Definitely a win -win. On top of that, the work was done last week before the emergence of the perennials- hostas, day lilies, heuchera. The guys who do this kind of work are definitely not gardeners and don't care where they plant their feet.
The pergola was in need of some repair so I made arrangements for some rotting boards to be replaced. Unfortunately, the whole deck needs to be replacing. It will be a mess for awhile. Wood is SO expensive too!
A tenant is complaining about their fridge but is unwilling to follow my suggestions. I’m unwilling to call the repairman just to have him tell me they just need to adjust the temperature control. I’ll give in soon!
Another tenant gave notice and was to have been out yesterday. Something come up and now she’ll be out by tomorrow afternoon. It has been rented... that happened quite easily actually, and the new tenant wants in. Instead of having 10 days to clean things up , I now have 8. That’s not a lot, given that I have to work 2 and a half of those and another is a Sunday. It’s going to be busy.
R and J and I got together for a few hours on Friday afternoon 4- 6:30 for pizza and beer!
I have read at least three novels.
I have watched endless hours of evening television- Vera, Sherlock Holmes, Outlander, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, etc
I have dusted, done laundry, thoroughly cleaned the family room and the bathrooms look pretty good too!
I write this to assure myself that life is busy.
If it’s so busy, why am I bored? It is still winter BUT tomorrow promises to be much warmer. Perhaps warm spring weather will also change the mood of life!!
