Spring= Baltimore Orioles

Image
  Every  year I put out cut up oranges as an attempt to attract Baltimore Orioles to stop by on their way to more northern climes. It usually works... but not yet. So far I’m just feeding a hungry squirrel!

Is it good enough?

  Working hard at the rental day. My goal: clean ceiling fans, clean and paint the bathroom, and paint the cabinet in the kitchen. I took a ladder along and was able to dust and wipe down the ceiling fans.  While I was up on the ladder a few other thinks caught my eye. So I clean and painted the built in bookshelves! I painted the window sills and touched up the baseboards. The bedroom is almost done. Spackle was applied  and sanded down in the bathroom. Walls were washed and painted. The vanity drawers and shelves were washed and painted also were the walls. Only have to wipe down the ceiling and the floor.  Lots of trim was washed and painted- I couldn’t waste the paint in the roller!  The last of the roller  and brush paint was used on the top of bow window shelf.  Crazy lot of work.  The question now is,  do the other walls need to be painted or is washing them down enough? Crazy lot of work!

Here's what is growing in the BACK yard.

Lenten Rose Tulips! Lenten rose! Daffodils! Wishing...I left these pots of hosta just like this all winter!  Hoping some survive. The deck is getting redone. One very large woodchuck hole! More tulips! Bleeding heart! This pot has growing hosta! Lots of day lilies! These daffodils always bloom first! Tiger lilies.   Bleeding heart!

Spring projects

 It’s been a busy few weeks and the next two will be as well!  It’s still winter! One house up for the city inspection.  While time consuming, things went well and we should get a 6 year certificate. I have decided to partially renovate the kitchen of apartment #3 but as workmen are over booked and product is slow to come by, it will take a few months to get done. I was sick for an entire week.  Two covid home tests proved it was nothing but a nasty cold/flu. I’m still fighting a cough. Our backyard had been discovered by a rather persistent group of deer, so as an experiment, I put chicken wire all around as a three foot topper to the existing fence, held in place by bamboo sticks.  It did the trick! All my plants thrived! Over the winter the fence sagged and was in need of more permanence. Lightweight and tall fiberglass “sticks” are now permanently in place. Not only are the sticks lightweight they are also flexible and will not rust! Definitely a win -win. O...
