Dinner in the yard
We had a great time- good food , good conversation, and everyone stayed until dark!
It sounds simple, doesn't it? Just invite a few friends over for a BBQ on the deck on a summer evening and away you go!
So an uncomplicated menu (I said -- haha)!
Food--Brats, chips, potato salad, watermelon and ice cream.
Beverage-- lemonade.
Complications soon raised their heads.
The hubby said -lemonade ok but let's also have beer and wine.
Now needed: ice bucket, beer and wine glasses, bottle opener
A friend said--Ice cream? ok - I'll made an ice cream dessert.
Now needed: plates and forks (instead of cones)
I have myself to blame too: fresh potato salad (not store bought); watermelon-let me make a simple fruit salad (Watermelon, mango, lime) so good and "I haven't made that in a long time lol."
Now needed: more ingredients and more time to prepare it.
So eventually the food and beverage problems were solved.
hmmm- Did I say "on the deck"??
I spent approximately 2 days cleaning up the yard!!! Serves me right!! The yard looked fabulous!
But, deck chairs were a problem also in that we only have 7 chairs and 8 people were going to need a seat. Not a problem- I had been planning to buy a few more anyway. Go out buy 2 simple stackable chairs. I went to three big stores and not a chair was to be had! Even Amazon could not help me out!
We borrowed two chairs from my son who -- dare I say it? -- is not a neat freak like his mother. Nice chairs but oh, so in need of a very thorough scrubbing!
After all of that, I can say it was worth it! We had a great time- good food , good conversation, and everyone stayed until dark! My only regret: I did not take any pictures!
But now that the yard looks fabulous and will stay that way for a short while, we are inviting people over again for next weekend! (the menu will be simple - haha)
