Happy Canada Day! (We used to call it Dominion Day ha ha)
World Cup soccer is being played in Russia. We watched Russia beat Spain and Croatia beat Denmark! Both were won in the goal kicking at the end--one player against the goalie! (Powerhouses Argentina and Germany have also been eliminated) Aaron came and picked up Asher early on Friday...It was very hot and Aaron was very grumpy. He doesn't handle bad news or the heat very well. (can't blame him).
Saturday Ava was here. It was so nice since that hasn't happened for a long time. We baked, even though it was very hot, because she loves baking. Brownies, lemon bars, chocolate-cream cheese cupcakes, Jan hagel cookies. Seems like a lot but it never lasts too long over here. We also went shopping and played her favorite game- Qwerkel.
Nathan invited us over in the evening so we went and sat on his deck and chatted etc until I couldn't stand the heat any longer. I don't enjoy a wet, sweaty head!
Sunday we picked up Ava and went to Encounter Church. A former student of Arie's is the preaching pastor there. It was a very good service. Ava enjoyed it too. I'm just not a fan of the music even though the focus is the message/words of the song versus the sing-ability.
Since then it's been a hot lazy day!
I took a walk through the yard to water the pots and discovered a plethora of thistles growing in the flowerbeds. I was amazed at how quickly they have grown (some are higher than my waist height) but THEY seem to thrive in this hot and windy weather.
The heatwave is supposed to last all week...YUCK!
