Burning bushes

Burning ornamental grasses...oh so quick and oh so easy.

I have a few varieties of ornamental grasses in the front yard.  I usually burn them while there is still snow on the ground.  This year I was really late so I only burned the shorter ones.  It took me an hour to cut down and clean up the last two tall ones.  Next year it's going to get done early.  The funny thing is, is that as soon as my fires start I hear the fire engine sirens getting closer.  Just a bit nerve wracking. No one has called on me yet.
I took three tubs full of grass to the dump.  I also picked up some bags from one of the rentals.  These new tenants are absolutely a dream.. This yard has never looked so good. They have raked up old leaves,  trimmed old bushes and edged all of the grass. They bagged it all up too.  I went and picked up those bags since I was on my way to the dump with my stuff.  Sixteen bags of VERY heavy yard waste.  The problem was that most of the contents were wet.  It took some effort but I got them all.  I was happy to note that getting them out of the Envoy was much easier than put them in. That was Wednesday.

The following photos were taken about 9 days ago. Even though there was frost on the ground this morning, things have warmed up considerably and things are growing nicely.

This bed still looks this bad lol

These tulips are about three times this tall.

These three hardy daffodils grow in the side yard all by themselves.  They are in full bloom and looking fabulous.
Thursday (today) I decided to clean out the shed.  It was well worth the effort.
I also planted approximately 20 small clumps of astilbe. R dug out a patch of them that had been overrun by a weed.  I broke them up and removed as much of the weed as I could. I planted them in my yard and if they survive I will give them away.  We will await and see.
I slept 2 hours in the afternoon and went to New2You in a groggy state.
