15 minutes Thursday

Image
Asher joined us from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. I got up at 7:45.  In 15 min I got dressed, put a load in the washer, picked up in the back room ( so it was child-proof) and had some breakfast (with my 2 cups of coffee of course.) It was a productive 15 minutes. Asher is so cute. He's 21 months old now.  What he likes to do most is run....as fast as he can. He runs from the back of the garage all the way out and down the driveway and...yup...into the street. Thoroughly reprimanded and a good swat on the behind cured him of that quickly! He stopped with room to spare after that. He such a  little stinker.  After Aaron picked him up I was on the couch.  I finished my book and then, in spite of having been up since 4:30, I could not nap. Typical. New2You from 4-7 was hectic today.   Rachel, a Plymouth house tenant, procured a Bears Breeches for me.  So excited! Hope mine will bloom this year! The weeds in the backyard there are s...

15 minutes wednesday

I often find myself with 15 minutes before I need to do whatever.  This morning I went out and walked all around the yard and took pictures of my irises.  There are 9 different ones blooming at the moment.  I will post them later.  i have to go.  My 15 minutes are up.  Don't want to be late!   first one peonies meadow sweet geranium columbines pinks bear's breeches

Thankful!

For a long time now I have expressed my thanks to the inventors of: ice cream, suitcases with wheels, air conditioning and ?? ( I can't remember the fourth at the moment but I'll come back and edit this when I do. lol)  Life is so much easier and more enjoyable due to these 4 things. I stopped by a friend's house today.  The AC was not working but there was ice cream cake. It balanced out. It would have been so much more relaxing if she had both the AC and the ice cream.

summer is here

The temperature went up to 90 degrees today! It was sunny all day!  The best part was rain!  It was raining when I got up at 6:00.  A nice soft gentle rain. The garden was happy too, lol! It was a perfect combination of growing weather.

Another birthday...for Aaron

Aaron turns 39 today!   I find that hard to truly believe. Wasn't it just yesterday when he was born? Perhaps not for him but surely for me.  I don't feel 39 years older. I'm turning an age this year when my mother was old...really old. This week I walked in the morning three times.  I worked long and hard in the gardens.   Mine is slowly taking shape but so is the garden at Shawnee Park CRC where my friend is in charge. I think what we really need at our age is not to be afraid to work but to learn to pace ourselves.  Yesterday was the main planting day at the church.  We worked from 9 - 12 and got many bedding plants into the ground, actually more than we expected with only 5 people. I think we overdid it somewhat...I had a hard time doing much of anything today.  I need to drink much more water.   Today...the day after is when I realize that time has taken it's toll.  haha

RAIN

Rain...wonderful stuff.   I remember last year l blamed the very dry spring on the lack of spring rains.  The normal two weeks or so of rains that really give everything a really good start did come this year.  We got one inch the other night and another half inch plus today! All of this before Memorial Day! It should be a good year!

It is Spring/summer

Not only did Spring fly away so did by previous entry...haha. Computers amaze and frustrate me sometimes.   The winter was long this year and not very pretty.  The snow came and went in a heartbeat, leaving slush and mud behind.  Then came spring...it is beautiful this year. A few warm days allowed the tulips to grow and then cooler days to help them stick around. I planted some that I bought at Aldi's last fall, I covered them with chicken wire to protect them from the squirrels, and then hoped for the best. Surprisingly they came up in two batches.  About half of them were pink and produced beautiful flowers.  When they were almost done, out came the white and red ones and they are still blooming.  Lots of fun!  But as wonderful as the spring WAS, it also left quickly! Spring in west Michigan is often like this.  Summer hit us and it was hot and humid enough to turn on the central AC.  It's May19! I th...

Beauty all around

This has been a fabulous spring. Things have progressed a bit slower than in past years...or so I think.

Burning bushes

Burning ornamental grasses...oh so quick and oh so easy. I have a few varieties of ornamental grasses in the front yard.  I usually burn them while there is still snow on the ground.  This year I was really late so I only burned the shorter ones.  It took me an hour to cut down and clean up the last two tall ones.  Next year it's going to get done early.  The funny thing is, is that as soon as my fires start I hear the fire engine sirens getting closer.  Just a bit nerve wracking. No one has called on me yet.  I took three tubs full of grass to the dump.  I also picked up some bags from one of the rentals.  These new tenants are absolutely a dream.. This yard has never looked so good. They have raked up old leaves,  trimmed old bushes and edged all of the grass. They bagged it all up too.  I went and picked up those bags since I was on my way to the dump with my stuff.  Sixteen bags of VERY heavy yard waste.  ...
