Too much ambition and two gross dead animals
Memorial day
Memorial day was memorable...but just for me. I was bone tired at 6:00 PM and was fortunate to be able to take a short nap before R and C came over to sit on the deck and relax.
It was only yesterday and I am having a lot of trouble remembering exactly what I did. That I can't remember is more upsetting than doing all that work.
I know for certain that I was up by 7:00
I ran to Lowes to get a cheap roller cover and paintbrush and then proceeded to put a second coat of paint on the deck. It is looking pretty good.
I went to visit a lady from church-we get together every Monday at 10:30. Even though it was a holiday, I felt I needed to stop by (45 min) because I am leaving on Friday for Ft Worth. I'll be back July 2. We had a nice visit.
Then the heavy work started. I weeded, planted, transplanted, watered and watered (because the promise of rain did not materialize). I put away all the garden tools and pails, pots and buckets. Generally, I cleaned up everything and then some.
I also got out the electric blower and let it blow all the debris from the patio and sundry corners. It looks marvellous!
The nastiest thing I did was empty two rain barrels. What's nasty about that you ask??? Well let me tell you that while I agree, dumping a rain barrel half full of water and leaves and such is not such a big deal...it really is when two rather large dead and very smelly animals are floating in it!! What were they?? I am not at all certain : large squirrels, possums, raccoons, woodchucks?? They all roam our neighbourhood.
( I was actually wondering where that occasional whiff of nasty dead animal smell was coming from?? I had even looked over the neighbour's fence!) Silly me! It was in MY yard and in MY rain barrels!! SOOOOOO GROSS!
After this AWESOME discovery, I got out my best shovel and dug a large hole. I couldn't pull the barrel over! What to do?? Well, I went around behind and pushed it over and this nastiness was out and in the hole!!! It's all buried and the smell is gone. May I repeat??? SOOOOOOO GROSS!!!!!
My only regret?? I did not take any pictures! lol
