PURE MICHIGAN

Two friends and I have been going to local breweries this year...I'm not quite sure exactly when this started. We have gone to a lot of local breweries...some ok, some, better than ok , some pretty good and some really good.
We look over their beer list and order a flight...or two!

We absolutely abhor some brews and conversely absolutely love other brews. I wasn't there that time but after hearing the story I am not sorry I missed the brewery with the beer that smelled and tasted of barnyard doo-doo! I did get to hear about it and still hear comments about that memorable experience.

Yesterday and today we went on a road-trip and stopped in at three new (to us) breweries.
Newego Brewing Co.

How do RW Bentley Coconut brown or
Peanut Butter porter sound?

Traverse City - Mackinaw Brewing Co, brewery- http://www.mackinawbrewing.com

Belaire brewery- SHORTS.
Pontius Road pilsner (no stars)
Autumn ale (4 stars)

We generally enjoyed the beers we picked at the first two but at Shorts it wasn't quite as easy! Perhaps it was because we ordered two flights of five there instead of one. We each taste them one by one and give opinions and grimaces or smiles about each. We all seem to find our favorites and then inevitable...I can probably drink that one.  Nary a drop goes to waste between the three of us but we all certainly have found that our beer palates vary greatly. Porters, stouts, lagers, pilsners, and even ciders!
It's been a fun experiment. We started out quite naive but have been surprised how we have learned to appreciate the creativity of the local brew masters. All that while not consuming copious amounts of beer.
Cheers!
