A great get-away!

It's so nice to have friends to do crazy things with!
R and J and I spent Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday morning in a lovely "cottage" on Lake Michigan. Lots of laughs, good food, a few drinks, cows etc.

The food: Sunday evening (after a long walk down to the beach 188 stair steps!)
Pigs-in-a-blanket , wine and quinoa salad!

After a few games of Quiddler and Boggle we called it a night. Talk about competitive old women lol! A crazy wild rain storm blew through the area making us glad we had arrived earlier than planned.
The food on Monday was non-stop deliciousness!
Good way to start the morning!
Coffee oven-baked bacon, scrambled eggs and cheese with lots of coffee naturally!
We then headed out to explore. First stop: Country Dairy for a tour.

aging of the cheese.

On the way to Montegue we searched for and found the farm that raises the Galloway Belted Cow.  The Belted Galloway cattle breed have been mainly bred for their production of a high quality marbled beef. Occasionally cattle men have been purchased the breed for their dairy properties in addition to decorating their pastured with their remarkable image.

Within the United States of America, the Belted Galloway bred cattle have often been referred to as Oreo cows specifically due to their distinctive color pattern as a bearing a direct resemblance to the renown Oreo cookie, which is typically a cookie sandwich comprised of two chocolate cookies with a cream filling.
Aren't they cute?...from a distance?

It was a day of craziness and many stops. After the cows we got some desperately needed gas, visited the Book Nook and the Pekadill"s cafe in order to enjoy the beautiful gardens.

garlic fried fresh shrimp and berries.
After we got back it was time for happy hour , right?

Dinner was postponed so we could take a leisurely stroll down the beach to admire all the "cottages". It was a lovely walk but a grueling ascent of 188 steps back up to our place.
Dinner: Beef tenderloin done on the grill, fried potatoes, asparagus and spinach-strawberry salad, garlic bread and wine beer and gin ...of course.
What a life!!
It was so nice to relax!!
