weekend mystery trip

I took Arie on a mystery trip-supposedly for his birthday (the big 60) and our anniversary (34 years this year). We left about 10:30 AM and headed north to Charlevoix (3 hours) , a sleepy winter town but a booming vacation town in the summer.
We strolled around town, saw some boats, had a latte, and bought a ceramic angel for my collection and some fudge for the kids.We then headed for the B&B that I had chosen: The House on the Hill in Ellsworth, Michigan. He was impressed: especially given the fact that I never do things like this because it takes planning and I am not a planner.
The B&B was beautiful.
When we arrived, we found there were some other people that we knew staying at the Inn! In fact there were 5 other couples!
All of the guys turned or are turning 60 this year and we ladies got together and planned this weekend. We had a mini "roast" during which they each received "interesting" gifts from their wives!
We then headed to Tapawingo- a five star restaurant in Ellsworth - and the boys were wined and dined.
Dinner lasted almost four hours. There were menus printed especially for this dinner with all their names at the top. It was a seven course tasting menu plus appetizers. We got back to the Inn at about 11:00 and one of the ladies announced that there was one more surprise: The guys were all bunking together!! Boy did we laugh!

Arie enjoyed a late night cigar on our deck!
In the morning we had a gourmet breakfast!

On the way home we stopped atan antique car show. That was icing on the cake for Arie!
We had a great weekend!
