Day 2

Image
It’s Sunday and then it’s not Sunday! G  It’s an enormous resort... lots of buildings with so many different degrees of accommodations, pools everywhere, beaches, restaurants and shopping! Hundreds of employees doing what has to be done to make your stay as easy as possible especially those that shuttle you around because your car is not an option but neither is walking. But there is not a single opportunity to gather to worship.... Catholic, Protestant, Jew, Muslim, or whatever! We are in a NEW AGE! I’m not sure we would have chosen to participate since it’s easy enough to stream services online but it seems sad that that opportunity was not available.

Day one

A very pricey lunch at the Phoenix airport. A sandwich, a salad and 2 drinks for only $38.00 Is that duck tape on the wing? My seat mate was worried! Chaos and warm temperatures at the aeropuerto! I love palm trees! J

Blessings with SNOW...so much snow and it’s COLD

Blessings! It started ...long story lol  After a much appreciated, dry drive from Chicago to Grand Rapids, west Michigan got a generous and for the most part, normal dumping of snow. It was refreshing to see the brown/green landscape nicely covered by a few inches of snow. But, as so often happens, this snow covering did not last long and things were back to brown and messy  in a heartbeat!  This happens every year. Our snowblower would not start again and this first snow was a warning.  I kept hearing Arie say that we should bring it in to be repaired. He took no action...lol! A few days later the temperature dropped and the snows did too! Record (below 0°) low temperatures and record ( 16-17 inches) amounts of snowfall!   Everything looked so clean!!  The roads were cleared and passable  relatively quickly, but schools enjoyed a lot of snow days- first due to the “storms” and then because of the low temperatures.  Some businesses lost a few days...

Skiing at Hilltop, dinosaur museum, big snowman, baking, movie

Image
A large snowman built in a neighborhood with narrow streets that get more narrow with more snowfall.  It is a tourist attraction that the neighbours don't really appreciate as it causes traffic congestion! A trip to the dinosaur museum. Movie time! We saw MIGRATION!    Baking time with Oma! An attempt to get away from the screens! we made BOTERKOEK! An afternoon at HILLTOP!  Snack time!

Games in AK and gingerbread houses
