Arizona family time

  The family reunion in Phoenix is happening right now. The kids from Anchorage are all here and those from Grand Rapids are also here.  We extremely thankful that we have been able to use the brother-in-law’s house and that we all fit! There are beds for all and enough space so that we are not all on top of each other!  It also is a big bonus that there is a pool and that it is heated!  We are blessed!

Should or shouldn’t we? Inviting friends for dinner!

  So we did! Guests: two couples we have not seen since the pandemic hit.  So good to get caught up! Food; tried to keep it simple.  Appetizers on the deck - homemade salsa, chips, and cucumber bites.  Beverages-wine and apple cider.  Gentle rain forced us inside. Grilled meat despite the threatening showers! Oven roasted herb potatoes, buttered veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrot mix), salad, homemade applesauce and a simple fruit salad (watermelon and mango with lime...so good) and Parmesan toasts. No garlic on anything because of an allergy. It took some modifications but it all worked. Wine and water flowed.  Dessert was awesome! Compliments of one guest! Mocha cream chocolate roll!   It was so good to have people over and to reconnect with old friends again!   My “ it was so good” list is long! So good - the house is clean, the yard is picked up, there are lots of leftovers, we have a few new recipes, we could use our new dishes,...
