Joe's truck

Image
On Saturday we made two trips to the yard waste dump. My yard and Aaron's and the large amount from the rental ...that pretty much filled the trailer. When were done, we returned the empty trailer. We headed over to the rental (Rose) . Her stuff filled the back of the truck. It was a bear to fill it but boy was it easy to dump.it ! !!

Op Zondag

Image
When we were younger, Sunday observance was pretty universal in our circles of church and family. Yesterday my two friends worked in the church's garden. They were working to help or enhance the worship experience of others. That was their excuse. Me? I helped too but not as long as they did.

Mom's soup pot!

Every Saturday someone would be assigned to use this old-fashioned meat grinder to make soup. Onions, carrots, celery, parsley and the like were put through this grinder for the Sunday soup.  Rather a tedious chore especially because it often slipped off the counter ...who knows why. Today I was reminded of this as I made refrigerator soup! Last weekend we had a houseful of people to feed as we celebrated. The food and the fellowship were outstanding! Leftovers were inevitable!  I do hate throwing away fresh produce! So I made soup! I chopped onions, celery, mushrooms, parsley, red and yellow peppers, a lonely sweet potato and threw it all in a pan to cook down some.  I added an open container of broth and added a large can of diced tomatoes. I added a bit of this and a bit of that from the spice cabinet.  After letting that cook I added a handful of alphabet noodles, a couple of chopped leftover brats (from the freezer) let it simmer a bit more.  Fin...

A new low

Emergency run to Meijer this morning...sort of! I was too lazy to do it yesterday. Woke up this morning and said- girl you are not going anywhere today looking like that!! Now I'm sitting here waiting for it to take...and perhaps it will stay put for a month.  One of these days I am going to go "au naturale" again.

GAITHERS

Tonight I went to a Gaither concert! It was interesting, at times funny, at times worship-filled, at times musical and at all times too loud! That's all I can say! here's a sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-24kkrKp1Y

April Showers bring...

Rain...cold rain!  A good day to stay indoors.  It does hold the promise of those May flowers, right? A friend and I were planning our first run to the yard waste dump today...but eager beaver that she is...she beat me to it and went on Monday.  In retrospect that was probably a good thing.  I'll go tomorrow...if the rain stops!

and then...
