Why me? Why not me?

How to turn off the brain? I wish I knew!  It's 3:15 and I have been awake for an hour.  GRRRRR

Thursday

Where did it go? Seems I'm getting so (old) that I can't remember what happened yesterday. Has that ever happened to you? am I the only one? We have a high-end dishwasher in one of our units...the door came off. It seems the weld let loose! How? who knows? Of course, it can't be repaired (according to the appliance repair man) but the manufacturer will sell me an entire new door...IF I send them a picture of the problem.  $$$ My house needs dusting but I did that elsewhere TWICE First at the pizza place and then at New2You where I volunteer on Thursday afternoons. I obviously didn't go to book club. It was a 500 page book that was impossible to find in either the libraries or the book store. I'm sure they had a good time. I went to bed.

Out of energy and/or motivation

I cleaned up two large flower beds, delivered pizza, prepared a ton of pizza dough (but not alone), did the grandma thing and picked up little Miss A, did a bank run, etc. That was yesterday and then was all disappointed in myself that I had spent the entire evening on the computer and watching TV.  Book club is tonight...have I read the book? what book? what is it called? do I care?  Not this time! I'm planning on staying home tonight. I have only one flower bed left to clean up but it's coldish and cloudy and most of all...the yard is WET! maybe this afternoon...

Monday Evening

And what a day it was!! Suffice it to say it was long and varied. I left the house at 9:30 and was done by 11:15 PM. Hoping today will be better! I am looking forward to an hour at the dentist where I will do nothing but sit...maybe even take a nap!

8:00 AM Monday morning

How to face the day?? Wake up at 5:30 , roll over, try to sleep, get up at 6:15, clean up the kitchen, check face book, watch the news...anything but face that house again! The washer leaked, spewing water down into the first floor, the water heater is leaking, Joe might or might not be functioning today! AY DE MI!  I have to get dressed .........

Too old for this!

We bought a house last March 17! It is now September 12. Lots of time to get renovated, right? NOT! The renters move in tomorrow! It's down to the crunch! Flooring went into the kitchen last night ! The list for today is long! Lots of little things plus a few big ones!  Here's hoping!  Heading to Lowes yet again for a few things. I think this will be the last house we are doing. I'll take the camera with me today!

Back home

We left Saturday morning and came back Monday afternoon. A relatively quiet, simple visit to Brampton that is until the fire alarm went off at 8:30 Saturday night. Never had this happen before. It was a warm evening, there was no fire and everyone cooperated.  Someone had left a garment steamer on and it had triggered the sprinkler system in that room and then proceeded to flood the neighbouring room and the two below it. We were right next to one of those rooms...yeah for that! Back in the room about 1 1/2 hours later. Not too bad considering! So thankful there was no fire, no smoke, no injuries...just water!

A few days away!

Tante Tini Tante Tini is Arie's 87 (almost 88) year old aunt who lives in Holland Home in Brampton, Ontario. She's such a dear lady! We try to come and visit her as often as we can...but not often enough!  It's been a great visit. She is getting older but doing well! Walking gets more difficult as the years go by but she is as bright and as independent as she has always been! Love her!

Miss A is off and running

Miss A started preschool yesterday!

Seven days of Gratitude

Day 7 1. A good night's sleep: Joy comes in the morning! 2. Quiet / stillness: It's quiet in the morning before everyone else gets up and there are few cars on the roads but it is good to be still and rest in the knowledge that this world belongs to God and no amount of fretting on our part changes things.  3. Freedom: to vote (China is clamping down on Hong Kong); to write (even trite things in blogs) without fear of Big Brother) to believe in God and meet for worship (Christians are being slaughtered by Muslims); to pursue our dreams ...

Seven days of Gratitude

Day 6 1. Friends: especially those who will help cleaning up the yard. Thanks to R & J the front yard is clean an d neat!! 2. Good books and the time to read them! 3. Safety: secure home, city, state, country. I watch the news and try to imagine living in a state of constant fear and find it impossible.

Day 5 1. Good health: I just finished the five mile walk in downtown Grand Rapids called GRAND CROSSINGS LABOR DAY COMMUNITY BRIDGE WALK. Lots and lots of people and many didn't even seem to break a sweat. I came home drenched and very tired but thankful that at my age I could finish! and I'll have to say it was a fun challenge. Proof: 2. Water: Not just drinking water but the stuff that's available at the turn of a faucet: water to bathe, water to clean the house and extra to play in. I have gone to many third-world countries and have always maintain that I could live with an outhouse and a kerosene lamp but not without water. 3. My house/home: We passed many small groups of homeless people today. I'm thankful that my circumstances (like mental health, financial resources, addiction) have not brought me to a homeless state.
