THURSDAY

They say memory is the first thing to go and I'm starting to believe it.  It's Thursday night and I'm having difficulty remembering what I did this week. Monday and Tuesday were filled with Asher that's true but ...what else? Wednesday I think I spent recovering from Asher time!! lol Today is clear enough...as it should be.  I went out for breakfast with two dear friends at a restaurant called Real Food. It's local and it's good.  It's open for breakfast and lunch.  When the three of us go out, we always talk more than we eat.  We always say we should meet more often and we should but life in retirement gets busy...too busy. After that I went to our store and decided to do some much-needed cleaning. Employees do as little as possible.  Then I went and did my regular 3 hour volunteer at  New2You! I am a cashier there and today it was busy!   I got home tonight...bone tired. I fell asleep watching TV and feel like I am turning...

Asher time

Asher came at 9 (usually it is 7:30) and got picked up at 4:30 (usually 6:30) so it was a short day. We played outside, we went for a walk and we played indoors. He was in a great mood today but he was tired.  He will not go down for a nap so I took him for a drive.  It took 30 minutes but then he was out for the count. After about 1 and 1/2 hrs, (1 hour on the driveway) I made enough noise that he woke up.  I carried him inside and he fell asleep in my arms.  After 1/2 hr I moved him to the couch and figured he would wake up ...nope! he slept for another 30 minutes.  He was obviously very tired!!  I hope he goes to bed on time tonight...at home haha!

Saturday adventures

It was a beautiful almost spring-like day. Two friends and I decided it was time to give blood. (Did you know there is no age limit on giving blood?  I guess if it's flowing they will take it...) We met up at 10:30, drove 10 minutes and left the Blood center after 1:30.  We learned our lesson...don't give blood on a Saturday and always make an appointment.  They were busy...YES...but they also all work like slugs!  We even did the questionnaire on our phones to speed things up.  When you are done the questionnaire it sends a bar-code to your email. It took 5 or 6 tries for their computer to recognize the bar-code for me.  For one of my friends their computer system froze and a tech guy had to come and help.  Nothing went very quickly on Saturday. We persevered- we all gave blood and we were all patient (on the outside lol). I had been drinking water ...a lot of it- probably 5 or 6 --32 oz bottles...since Friday afternoon. Guess what?  It ...

...and now it is Saturday

After a very lazy Sunday, I cannot believe it is Saturday already. They say time flies when you are having fun but I cannot say it was all fun this week and yet time FLEW by. Looking back I blame it on my new addiction.  I get E books from the library downloaded on my IPad and I sit and read. It's been fun but I need to control myself.  A friend recommended The Girls of Mischief Bay by Susan Mallery.  I read it because I knew she would want to talk about it but it is not my favorite type of writing.  Three women and their lives falling apart and how they managed to get things back together differently to survive life...not terrible and maybe even somewhat inspiring but WAY too long. I am reading suspense novels by J.A. Jance  and that's more fun.

Lazy Sunday

Confession, they say, is good for the soul.   I confess... I stayed home from church I did not make Sunday dinner I did some laundry I read a book I was LAZY That being said ...I'm not sure my soul benefited from that confession! lol

BEER! and s'more

It was a girl's night out and beer tasting was on the agenda. New Holland Brewery, a local company, makes a few very unusual, 11% brews.  Dragon's milk is the standard and then they bring out flavored versions.  We tried: Original Dragon's milk 11%  (good as ever) White Dragon's Milk 9%  (okay...vanilla...a bit too light) Orange-chocolate Dragon's Milk 11% (lot's of orange & not much chocolate ...sweet) Coconut-banana Dragon's Milk 11% (sweeter ...is there something like a dessert beer versus dessert wine?) S'Mores Dragon's Milk 11%  (sweeter yet...not a fan of this one...) unaware of the "theme" there was also some Hefeweizen bier which we dutifully sampled but we were not impressed. Perhaps in a bier garten on a hot hot day with some bratwurst.  It must be said that there were 5 of us and only 6 bottles were consumed over the course of the evening. Pigs in a blanket, fresh bread and capicola, o...
